Title: Flight Training
Post by: Rene on February 25, 2010, 07:35:00 PM
Hi,
I'm going to start flight training for my private pilots license soon and I just wanted to know what you guys thought about how much my instructor is charging me. He said it could cost anywhere from 200 - 250 dollars a session. Each session will consist of approximately an hour of ground school and 1 1/2 - 2 hours of flying. He says that he is charging $100 for himself and I guess the rest goes to the airplane rental. The airplane that we'll be using is a Cessna 152. I don't know if he's charging a lot or if this is normal. your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It depends on where your doing you flight training.  Say you were flying out of Chicago, then that would be a great deal.  But if your out somewhere in the middle of nowhere then its a little expensive.  Remember you get what you pay for. Just because something is cheap doesnt mean its good.  Do some research.  Call a few flight schools around you and ask them how much everything costs.  You can go to www.flightschoollist.com (http://www.flightschoollist.com) and find a list of flight schools from all over the USA.

Good Luck

Hey, thanks for your reply. I will be doing my training at Long beach airport near Los Angeles. It does seem that they are the cheapest school there but I guess it is true that you get what you pay for.
