Hello everyone, I just joined and thought I'd start a topic to help me out. I've got plenty of school options and I was wondering if you guys

recommend a certain one. HeliStream Inc. (Costa Mesa), Universal Air Academy (El Monte), Rotor Aviation (Long Beach), Los Angeles

Helicopters (Long Beach), Group 3 Aviation, Inc. (Van Nuys), Orbic Air, LLC (Van Nuys). Also can anyone give me a quick run down of

how to prepare myself (money, reading, etc.) so I don't look like an idiot. Thanks

I'm actually in the same boat and not sure of which would best suit me. Apart from the one's already mentioned, I've been looking at Adventure Helicopters located at Whiteman Airport... Also considering Monarch Sky in Las Vegas or Universal Helicopters where they have quite a few schools around California but a bit of a distance to get to.

I'm no expert but have been reading around quite a bit and was thinking of starting in March 2011. I am looking to try and get a PPLH in about 3-4 weeks as work is difficult to get away from.

From what I gather and am reading from other graduates, the best schools are the one's who mainly source their income from training. They rely on providing the best training they can for your monies worth. Other helicopter schools who also source their income from activities such as charter, joyfights, tours etc, are more focused on these things to try and maintain their business.

I haven't really been able to get a real idea of what graduates think as most of them don't post their experiences.

If there are any pilots or ex-graduates out there please help us aspiring pilots. =)
