Hello all, my Name is Nick From New Zealand.
Firstly, apologies if this is better suited for the General Discussion board, but since it was my first time here and all...
Im early 20's and my dream would be to fly. I have a medical related issue that i envisage as being likely to prohibit training and a job of course.. I wanted to see if anyone here could shed light on it before I was to fork out for a medical cert.
I have very mild right sided hemiplegia, not sure if anyone has heard of that, street name = Cerebral palsy. I must emphasize the 'mild' aspect, given i can drive, type, play guitar, all that sort of thing.
However, obviously, im still concerned over what will result in a medical and subsequent actions.
A small bit of advice i previously got was that each case in treated individually, while im aware of this and while iv heard of amputees getting the Private liscence, ect ect, i haven't really heard much past this (in terms of commercial training) and in addition, anyone actually flying as a job..
Wondering if anyone in the know can shed some light, before, as I said, I go to get a medical and get laughed out the door?
Also, any specifics relating to New Zealand guidelines would be further helpful.
For what its worth I have a College Bachelors although as im told that comes into consideration when applying for a job..
Regards
Nick
